I recently acquired an EIN number from the U.S. Department of the Treasury Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and am extremely oblivious on how to go about establishing business credit. I thought I needed to establish an eBay business. What can I do with an EIN? Do I get a business checking account as well? Please forgive my ignorance on this matter. Thank you in advance.

first make your bussiness and your private credit seperate. second just like your private, document and use it sparingly to let it grow. I am at that point so still learning myself. yes seperate your private and bussiness accounts. if your bussiness fails or has a problem you don’t want them to take all your private funds as well do you? talk to a financial advisor for more info on your particular wants and needs

The Need for an EIN Number

In real time, any business or a legal entity cannot survive sans an EIN number. The only exception in this case being that of a sole proprietorship firm which does not have any employees and at the same time is not required to file any tax related to alchohol, excise, tobacco and firearms. Other than that, the taxation authorities of the US will bring every entity stretching from churches to trusts and even estates or clubs under its purview.

Further, any business in the US will need to get an employer ID if it intends to hire employees or otherwise wants to meet the set of guidelines as laid down by the IRS. At the same time, the set of rules prescribed by the federal government also direct banks operating in the country to not to allow any business entity to open an account with it till the time it does not furnish an EIN number.   

How to go about and apply for an online EIN application?

The era of waiting in long lines or waiting over the phone are gone because these days one has the easy option of submitting an EIN application online. Moreover, getting an EIN number via an online application is not only the easiest but one of the quickest way. And in case if the employer’s tax ID application is valid and is not missing out on any details the whole process can be even completed in a matter of minutes.
