Business Checking Account Ledger

Q&A: QUICKBOOKS HELP! How do I move multiple entries from one account ledger to another at once?

Question by one x sweet: QUICKBOOKS HELP! How do I move multiple entries from one account ledger to another at once?
On quickbooks I have a Business Checking account ledger and a Personal Checking account ledger. I accidently inputed about 20 entries (mostly checks and a few deposits) into the Personal Checking account ledger that were actually charged to my Business account…. I need to move them over to the Business side now but copying/pasting them one by one takes SO LONG and I can’t figure out how to select more than one at a time and move them?

PLEASE HELP!!!
to “educated guess” — i’m using account ledgers or registers (whatever you want to call them)… I don’t know about Journal entries…

what drop down menu are you talking about? I don’t see anything like that… each entry that I enter is a transaction (a purchase) or a bank deposit
to “Jennybob” — they are in the same Quickbooks file but in different REGISTERS/ledgers… so you can’t just change the drop down, that’s different.

Best answer:

Answer by educated guess
You just open each one up, go to the top drop down and select the right account……If you are using the copy/pasting feature you must be doing Journal entries?

QuickBooks Users Save Time on Payroll Accounting

QuickBooks Users Save Time on Payroll Accounting

Madison (PRWEB) November 2, 2005

The Payroll Company today announced its General Ledger Export for customers who use QuickBooks, one of the most popular business accounting packages on the market. This simple-to-use system allows customers to access their payroll data online, and then export that data to their QuickBooks software.

Before General Ledger Export, many companies that wanted to manage their employee costs in QuickBooks had to enter the data manually, even after already entering much of the same data into their payroll system. With this product, companies no longer have to worry about re-keying data and then often searching for the resulting data-entry errors.

“We’re excited about this new time-saving option for our customers,” said Eric Schroeder, President of The Payroll Company. “It makes use of the data already in the payroll system, so users don’t have to re-key the data, ever. We expect it will save our customers about an hour each pay period, and will help ensure accurate payroll accounting.”

Today, General Ledger Export is available for QuickBooks users. The Payroll Company expects that it will soon become available for other accounting packages.

Free Accounting Ledger

Every businessman knows that handling finances is a very essential part of running a business. To efficiently keep records of business transactions, accounting ledgers are used. If you’re just starting your business you may find using a free accounting ledger useful and quite beneficial for your company.  These are available online and can be easily accessed. After downloading, you can use them to conveniently keep your financial records in your computer. Many free accounting ledgers are associated with more known accounting software. Being aware of these relations will help guide you in choosing the type of features that will best suit your business needs.

One thing to consider when searching for a free accounting ledger on the internet is whether the program is compatible with your computer.  If it’s not, then you’ll just be wasting time and resources trying to download it, right? Also be sure to check if the program that you’re downloading has an expiration date. If a product is expired, you won’t be able to use it. There are also ledgers with the words”Trial Version” or “Free Trial” attached to them. This only means that they want you to have an idea of what it can do, but they really do not want to give the software to you for free. After the trial period, you won’t be able to use the ledger unless you pay for the software. It’s quite a shrewd strategy on the part of the software manufacturers because first they have you dependent on their ledgers because they let you use it for free for quite some time.  When the trial period ends, you find yourself with no other choice but to buy their software because it’s the only way you can access the financial records in your ledger. It’s always wiser to choose more known and more established companies when choosing a free accounting ledger.

Nowadays, technological advancements come at a rapid pace and to this, accounting programs are no exception. Be sure that your software has available upgrades so that it can keep up with your evolving business needs. There is a free version of QuickBooks Basic which is made available by Intuit. The program allows you to create invoices, keep track of all your expenses and also pay your bills. When your company grows and expands, your accounting needs also change. This is where a need for software upgrade comes in. From your basic version, you can upgrade to a professional version, which will still give you access to your previous ledgers. There are a lot of things to consider when choosing a free accounting ledger, but the most important step is to know first what your company needs and how you will use the ledger. This will help you make the best choice for your company’s benefit.
